Three days in Siargao is enough to fall in love with the island. It's not enough to see everything โ but if you plan it right, you'll hit every highlight and still have time to decompress on the beach. Here's the ultimate 3-day first-timer's itinerary.
Before You Arrive โ Essential Preparation
- Book your airport transfer: The first thing to organize. Use Shuttle Siargao โ shared shuttle โฑ350 or private van from โฑ2,500. Book before your flight.
- Carry pesos: No ATM at the airport. Bring โฑ5,000โโฑ10,000 for your first day.
- Book accommodation: During peak season, don't leave this to chance. Book in advance.
Day 1 โ Arrival, Explore General Luna, Sunset at Cloud 9
Morning โ Arrival
Your Shuttle Siargao transfer picks you up at Sayak Airport and delivers you to your hotel in General Luna. Check-in (or drop luggage if too early), freshen up, and orient yourself.
Afternoon โ Explore GL
Rent a scooter first thing โ it'll be your vehicle for the entire trip (โฑ350โโฑ400/day from rental shops in GL). Ride along the beachfront road, explore the side streets, find your favorite cafรฉ, and start planning tomorrow's island hopping.
Recommended first stops:
- General Luna beach walk
- Kermit Siargao for lunch or a cold beer
- Local market area near the main road
Evening โ Cloud 9 Sunset
Drive to the Cloud 9 boardwalk about 30โ40 minutes before sunset (arrival depends on time of year โ check online). Walk out on the boardwalk over the reef. Watch the Pacific horizon turn orange and pink. This is one of the most photographed sunsets in the Philippines โ and it earns every photo.
Dinner: Back in GL at one of the dozens of excellent restaurants. Ask your hotel for current recommendations โ the food scene evolves constantly.
Day 2 โ Island Hopping
Full Day โ Guyam, Naked Island, Daku
This is the classic Siargao island hopping tour and it's genuinely excellent. Book through your hotel or any tour operator in GL โ tours typically depart from Sta. Monica pier at 9โ10 AM.
What the tour includes:
- Boat transport to all three islands
- Guide for the full day
- Snorkel equipment (usually)
- Fresh seafood lunch on Daku Island
Cost: โฑ1,200โโฑ1,500 per person depending on group size and operator.
Highlights:
- Guyam: Tiny perfect island โ white sand, palm trees, crystal water. 15โ20 minutes here.
- Naked Island: Pure white sand bar with zero shade. Apply sunscreen liberally. 15โ20 minutes.
- Daku Island: Largest of the three. Explore the fishing village, swim, and eat your seafood lunch under the trees. 1.5โ2 hours.
Tours return to GL by 3โ4 PM. Spend the late afternoon resting at your hotel or exploring more of the beach.
Day 3 โ Sugba Lagoon or Rock Pools + Departure Prep
Morning โ Sugba Lagoon or Magpupungko Rock Pools
Choose based on tide and preference:
- Sugba Lagoon (Del Carmen): Year-round. Drive to Del Carmen (30 min), board a boat to the lagoon (โฑ200โโฑ300 return), pay entrance (โฑ200). Kayak, swim, jump. Allow 3 hours minimum. Highly recommended.
- Magpupungko Rock Pools: Only at low tide. Check tide tables before going. Drive to Pilar (45 min). Entrance โฑ50. Stunning natural rock pools at the right tide. Allow 2โ3 hours.
Afternoon โ Final GL Time
Return to GL, check out, have your final lunch, and purchase any souvenirs. The Saturday public market (Tiangge) in GL sells local crafts, clothing, and produce if timing aligns.
Departure
Your Shuttle Siargao departure transfer picks you up from your hotel and takes you to Sayak Airport in time for your flight. Book this transfer when you book your arrival transfer โ don't leave it to chance.
